IWT Pharma has completed and brought into operation its new Pharma production facility in Northern Italy, marking an important milestone in the company’s industrial development.
The project represents an investment of approximately €13 million and expands the company’s existing site by more than 9,000 sqm, bringing the total area to over 21,000 sqm.
The new spaces include dedicated areas for production, logistics, testing, quality laboratories and technical services, providing the infrastructure to support IWT Pharma’s continued development in the global Life Sciences market.
The investment strengthens the company’s ability to design and manufacture high-technology systems for the pharmaceutical, biotech and advanced therapies industries, while creating the foundations for future growth.
Key figuresFrom construction site to production in just over one year
Construction began in June 2025 and was completed in August 2026, with the facility becoming fully operational in September 2026.
Delivering the project in just over one year required careful coordination across construction, engineering and operations. One of the project’s key achievements was that the existing production activities continued throughout the entire construction period, with no interruption to operations or impact on customer continuity.
The new areas have been designed around the flow of industrial activities, bringing production, logistics, testing, quality and technical services together in an environment designed to support efficiency and scalability.
Building capacity for the future of Life Sciences
The new facility is a strategic investment in IWT Pharma’s long-term development.
With customers operating in increasingly demanding and highly regulated markets, the expansion provides additional capacity to manage growing production volumes and increasingly complex projects across pharmaceutical manufacturing, biotechnology and advanced therapies.
The investment forms part of an ambitious plan to double the production capacity and turnover of the Pharma division within five years, supported by continued investment in technology, industrial expertise and people.
This growth will also create opportunities to bring new specialised professionals into the organisation, particularly in STEM disciplines, mechatronics, industrial engineering and pharmaceutical applications, with a specific focus on GMP-regulated environments.
Technology and sustainability by design
Environmental responsibility was an integral part of the project from the early design stages.
The site includes rain gardens and surface drainage basins designed to collect, retain and manage rainwater.
With a combined capacity of more than 880 cubic metres, these systems support hydraulic neutrality and help minimise the impact of the development on the surrounding area.
The building is also designed to accommodate a photovoltaic installation of approximately 400 kW, supporting the use of renewable energy and contributing to the site’s long-term energy efficiency.
These measures are part of IWT Pharma’s broader approach to responsible industrial development, where growth in production capacity goes hand in hand with efficient resource management and attention to the environmental footprint of operations.
